# Big Ring Fixed Gag (Eggbutt)

A Fixed (Eggbutt) Gag with a single-jointed mouthpiece available in either 15mm or 18mm mouthpiece's is a type of horse bit characterised by its fixed ring and its single hinge in the centre, which creates a V-shape when pressure is applied.

The Eggbutt/fixed gag mechanism provides increased leverage, giving the rider enhanced control.

The simplicity of the single joint provides direct and clear signals to the horse, which can be beneficial for straight forward communication between rider and horse. The single joint primarily distributes the pressure primarily to the sides of the tongue and bars, making it suitable for horses that respond well to a more pronounced pressure.

The weight of the mouthpiece is designed for an instant release and reward movement allowing the rider to take pressure off instantly as the bit falls from the pressure zone.

This is a firm favourite with polo players worldwide, and a must have in any tack room.

**Thin  
**Decrease size, increase pressure. Use thin to command a bit more respect from the horse.

**Thick**  
Increase size, decrease pressure. Less chance of chafing or cutting the corners of the mouth given the wider surface area.
