As a general guide based on using a big ring gag:
Choose 43" to eliminate the need for knots and avoid reins getting caught around your boots (or others!). Pair with 83" running reins to ensure the same length of reins extend from the back of your hand (where traditionally riders have knotted reins that are too long).
The 54" reins are the traditional length that require knots. Pair with 91" running reins.
